Inciting Incident - The event that triggers the greater events of the film.
Mid Point - A demi-climax it is usually a turning point for the hero.
Rising Action - The hero has set his course directly towards the climax.
Climax - The highest point of dramatic tension in the movie.
Events:
1769 - Wellington (Arthur) is born in Dublin and Napoleon in Corsica
1779 - Napoleon goes to school and flourishes
1781 - Arthur goes to school with limited enthusiasm
1784 - At a new School, Napoleon discovers a love of artillery and abandons an ironic plan to join the British Navy
1786 - Arthur attends a school in Angers and finds himself
1787-1788 - Arthur joins British Army and becomes ADC for Westmoreland
1787-1791 - Napoleon frequently returns to Corsica distancing himself from the old regime.
1789 - French Revolution (This is both the Inciting Incident AND the Mid Point of the movie. Changing the time-line to suit and showing one or another view point at different times will allow this to act as both.)
1793 - Napoleon's family is forced to leave Corsica and they move to Toulon. Also the battle of Toulon see Napoleon rise to the rank of Brigadier General.
1794 - Arthur goes on campaign to Holland. Napoleon meanwhile must defend himself after the first revolutionary regime is over-thrown.
1795 - Napoleon is convinced to support Barras and over-throw the royalist insurrection. After this he is made the country's commander in chief. He also meets Josephine.
1796 - Arthur is promoted to Colonel and sets off for India. Napoleon marries and commences his very successful Italian campaign.
1798-1799 - Napoleon returns to France a hero only to go off to war again in Egypt and Malta. This is one half of the rising action.
1799-1802 - Arthur fights in several large battles while in India. This is one of the halves of the rising action.
1799 - Napoleon's Coup d'Etat leaves him as the most powerful man in France. Meanwhile Arthur is still a mere officer toiling in the hot Indian desert. This is the climax of the movie.
1804 - Arthur is promoted to Major General and knighted. Napoleon is named Emperor of France. This is the resolution of the film although a small scene will follow it to open us up for the next movie.
1805 - Arthur leaves India and returns to England.
The idea is to show the similarities and differences in Arthur and Napoleon's lives. How they were in many ways quite similar and in many stark opposites. For this reason the movie will spend time jumping from Napoleon's life to Wellington's as the two of them mature, and rise in power. Napoleon is easily the more consequential character of the first movie and that will show as his scenes will probably take up the majority of the screen-time.
This leads the characters up to their first time facing each other. Wellington will be leading an army set to liberate Spain from French rule. Meanwhile Napoleon attempts to bring all of Europe under his sphere.
