Historical Drama: Day 14 (Casting)

Young Colonel - Charismatic and handsome, Napoleon is depicted with long hair and a strong slender face. He is uncharacteristically pale in his portraits (He was of Italian descent after all. As I've mentioned before, I feel like Napoleon might best be played through his early life by Daniel Radcliffe. Not much needs to be done to Dan to make him look right for Napoleon from 15 - 25

Successful General - Napoleon begins his story in the film as a young Lieutenant General in command of the French forces in Egypt. Some basic makeup or perhaps only an amount of acting would still lend Daniel to the role. Frankly the face shape and complexion (at least compared to portraits) is very VERY similar and I think it would work nicely.

Savior of France - Napoleon returns to France after the French fleet is crushed, dooming his Egyptian campaign and... well... he takes over. He first becomes 1 of 3 consulates in charge of the country and then uses his military connection and power to become emperor. He should not change too physically in this time so I doubt there is a need to change actors.

Emperor - Something happens between the time Napoleon comes home to the time he's crowned emperor. He frankly... ages about 5-10 years. Without photography who is to say. Now... this is a director issue, but I'd be fine with just adding some makeup weight to the same actor. The truth happens to be that Mr. Radcliffe no longer looks like Napoleon once he seizes the French throne.

Returned from Exile - More different still is the images of Napoleon at the end of his career/life. His face becomes broader and he obviously gains weight and ages facially. I'm inviting people to come up with their own ideas for who they think would make a good Napoleon. Let me hear what you got!
